Mansfield, Episcopal. Wossman, St. Louis Catholic win state track and field titles

The Mansfield boys and the Episcopal girls captured Class 2A state titles in the LHSAA outdoor track and field championships Friday at Bernie Moore Track Stadium on the campus of LSU.

Mansfield scored 56 points to win the boys title with Thomas Jefferson finishing second with 41 points.

Kaden Lewis of Thomas Jefferson won the 100-meter dash in a time of 10:44 and the Jaguars won the 4×100 relay. Ollie Brumfield of Northlake Christian was a winner in the 300-meter hurdles.

Charlie Aucoin of Newman was a star in field events, winning both the shot put and discus throw competitions and Isaac Herzenberg of Country Day was victorious in the javelin throw.

Episcopal captured the girls title with 96 points with Newman second with 82 points.

Claire Charpentier of Newman won the 200-meter dash while the Greenies won the 4×100 and 4×200 relay races.

St. Thomas Aquinas won the 4×800 relay race.

Mya Brown of St. Charles Catholic captured first in the discus throw and shot put.

In 3A, Wossman won the boys championship while St. Louis Catholic took the girls title.

Amairi Ashford of Patrick Taylor was the speed champion, winning both the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes.

Sophia Freeze of Ursuline Academy won the 800-meter run and Leah Varisco of Academy of the Sacred Heart was victorious in the 3,200 meter run. Skye Lewis of Haynes Academy won the discus throw.
