Mandeville handles Hahnville, 31-5
MANDEVILLE – When Mandeville and Hahnville faced off tonight at Sidney Theriot Field, the homestanding Skippers were looking to start off 2-0 on the season. The visiting Tigers aimed to bounce back after an ugly loss the previous week.
Only one team’s goal could be achieved, and it was Mandeville who enjoyed another solid early-season win as the Skippers cruised to a 31-5 victory.
The Skippers took the lead on their first possession via a 44-yard field goal. The Tigers’ first possession resulted in a three and out. The tone was set.
A touchdown pass by senior quarterback Caden Jacob was followed by a short Skippers touchdown drive set up by a botched Hahnville snap on a punt late in the second quarter to make it 17-0.
Later in the second, Hahnville (0-2) managed to score their only points generated by their offense with a 20-yard field goal.
Mandeville (2-0) was never threatened in the second half.
Next week, the Skippers will look to stay unbeaten at Walker High while the Tigers hope their first home game can produce their first win when they host Northshore.
