Lunachicks from Westbank win U14 Youth Softball Nationals World Series

The 14-Under Lunachicks softball team recently won their age division of the Youth Softball Nationals World Series in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Ateam put together by coaches Zeek Langford of Marrero and Brian Cannon of Gretna in 2017, the Lunachicks battled in a single elimination bracke and won the championship game 5-1 against Hydra Fastpitch of North Carolina at the Ned Donkle Complex.

The Nationals World Series included teams from across the nation including teams from Indiana, Texas, Wisconsin, Maryland, Illinois, North Carolina and Pennsylvania.

The Lunachicks are comprised of players from the Westbank of Jefferson Parish.

The championship team members are #23 Alaina Martinez, #15, Mikayla Angrisano, #11 Ryanna Lanier, #1 Claire Gauthreaux, #3 Laken Chauvin, #18 Caroline Burke, #27 Carson Heigle, #19 Breanna Davis, #26 Kadence Cannon, #21 Abrielle Langford and #17 Abigail Christ.
