Luke McCown to serve as LA Tech football radio sideline reporter

McCown to Join LA Tech Radio Network This Fall

RUSTON, La. – Louisiana Tech Hall of Fame quarterback Luke McCown will join the LA Tech Radio Network this fall as the sideline reporter for a number of Bulldog games.

McCown, a 2017 inductee into the Louisiana Tech Athletics Hall of Fame, will team up with Dave Nitz and Teddy Allen on the majority of Bulldog home games, starting with the Sept. 7 opener against Grambling State.

The Jacksonville, Texas, native starred for the Bulldogs from 2000-2003, passing for almost 13,000 yards and 88 touchdowns. He ranks No. 1 in program history in passing yards and No. 2 in touchdowns. He spent 13 years in the NFL after being selected in the 4th round of the 2004 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns.

Nitz begins his 46th year as the Voice of the Bulldogs, recently joining the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame as the recipient of the Distinguished Service Award in Sports Journalism. The Milton, West Virginia, native – a 2010 inductee into the Louisiana Tech Athletics Hall of Fame – has called more than 3,000 LA Tech sporting events during his broadcast career.

Allen begins his ninth season in the booth, serving as the color analyst for Bulldog football. The 1982 Tech journalism graduate is a well-known, highly-read award-winning journalist having covered local sports for Shreveport, Monroe and New Orleans during his career.

Associate AD for Communications Malcolm Butler will serve as the sideline reporter for the Bulldogs road games during the season. Butler served as the sideline reporter for four seasons (2013-16) and enters his 21st year as the play-by-play voice for the Lady Techster basketball and softball programs.

KXKZ 107.5 FM will once again serve as the flagship station for Bulldog football games. The network will be made up of KDBS 1410 AM (Alexandria), KQID 93.1 HD3 (Alexandria), WUBR 910 AM (Baton Rouge), KFNV 107.1 FM (Ferriday), KJVC 92.7 FM (Mansfield), KOKA 980 AM (Shreveport), KOKA 93.3 FM (Shreveport), KNCB 1320 AM (Vivian) and KVCL 92.1 FM (Winnfield).

Inside Tech Football with Teddy Allen and Skip Holtz will air Monday’s throughout the season from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Dawghouse Sports Grill. Allen and Holtz will team up to talk Bulldog football each week starting Aug. 26. The show can be heard on KNBB 97.7 FM as well as KDBS 1410 AM (Alexandria), KQID 93.1 HD3 (Alexandria), WUBR 910 AM (Baton Rouge), KOKA 980 AM (Shreveport), KOKA 93.3 FM (Shreveport), and KVCL 92.1 FM (Winnfield).
