When LSU edge rusher K’Lavon Chaisson went down injured during the second half of the Tigers’ impressive season-opening win over Miami in Texas, many feared the worst.

Those fears were justified.

LSU coach Ed Orgeron announced at his weekly in-season luncheon on Tuesday that Chaisson suffered a torn ACL, ending his sophomore season.

Set up to be LSU’s top speed rusher from the outside linebacker spot this year, Chaisson finished last season with 27 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss and two sacks. The Texas native was named to the SEC’s All-Freshman team.

Former Edna Karr standout Andre Anthony and JUCO transfer Travez Moore from Bastrop are the top candidates to fill the void.

Orgeron also announced that right tackle Adrian Magee, who started against Miami, is expected to miss two to three weeks. Magee, a junior from Franklinton, is listed as the co-starter at right tackle with JUCO transfer Badara Traore, his replacement in the victory over the Hurricanes.
