LSU guard Javonte Smart has been named the Southeastern Conference’s Freshman of the Week honors, the league office announced Monday morning.

Smart averaged 18 points, four rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.5 steals in for the Tigers in wins over Texas A&M at home this past Tuesday and Saturday at Alabama.

The Scotlandville Magnet product started in place of injured Tremont Waters against the Aggies and scored 17 points before coming off the bench at Alabama to score 19.

Tied atop the SEC with two games left to play, LSU visits Florida on Wednesday for a 6 p.m. game on ESPN2.
