June is a prime time in the football recruiting cycle each year. Visits to schools are numerous.

LSU currently stands at 16 pledges for the 2024 class which is in contention for the top five nationally. Brian Kelly and his staff are riding the momentum of the baseball regionals at Alex Box Stadium. It hypes the atmosphere in Tigertown for the visitors. There is a festive, raucous feeling on campus.

There are six prospects that will take either official or unofficial visits within the next two weeks.

This weekend…

-WR Jeremiah McClellan (5-11, 192) St. Louis, Missouri

He has Ohio State atop his current list followed by Missouri, Oregon and Tennessee. LSU is trying to squeeze into the fray with assistants Cortez Hankston and Robert Steeples handling the duties. McClellan has a great burst off the line, uses a good double move, is explosive in open field and gains good separation with a second gear. He takes his official visit to LSU.

-SS Joel Rogers (6-1, 185) West Feliciana High

He is top five overall player in Louisiana for the ’24 class. The Tigers hold a comfortable lead over Alabama, TCU, Tennessee and Florida State. Assistant coaches Kerry Cooks and Joe Sloan have recruited Rogers. He is making an unofficial visit this weekend. He also plays baseball and basketball at West Feliciana. Rogers is a very physical tackler, both athletic and instinctive.

-DB Joshua Lair (6-2, 195) Missouri City, Texas

He makes an official visit to Tigertown. Kerry Cooks and Matt House handling duties. He accumulated 54 tackles, 13TFL , 3 sacks, 2 interceptions, one returned for a score. He forced 3 fumbles. Texas and Baylor with the early advantage, LSU and Washington slightly behind.

-OT Marcus Mascoll (6-3, 297) Atlanta, Georgia

Brad Davis and Mike Denbrook making the pitch for LSU. The Tigers the early favorite over NC State, Florida and GA Tech. Former LSU player Rob Sale, now offensive coordinator at Florida, is recruiting him for the Gators. Mascoli’s official visit to LSU is this weekend. He demonstrates good feet, great second effort and ability to quickly reach to second level. Mascoli played left tackle last season.

-RB Tito Glass (6-2, 225) Columbus, Ohio

with his power and speed, he could play OLB as a collision tackler. Kentucky and Purdue are battling for top spot. Bowling Green and Miami (Ohio) are in the mix.

-OL Jonathan Daniels (6-4, 280) Pensacola, Fla.

The five-star recruit was scheduled to be in attendance at LSU this weekend, but a last minute family emergency changed things. He is expected to make a visit later. Florida State is his current favorite, as he is an admitted ‘Noles fan. LSU is the closest competitor. He visits Georgia on June 16 and Florida State the following week. The No. 35 ranked prospect in Florida has long reach and has not finished growing. He shows quick feet and plays with some nasty to his game. Daniel could play inside at OG and has seen some time at DT.

Meanwhile the June 16 weekend brings wide recriver Bryant Wesco (6-2, 170) from Midlothian, Texas to visit. Oklahoma looks like the early favorite, but LSU are hoping to make up ground as the process continues. The All-State perfomer last season made 58 catches for 1,160 yards and 14 TD’s, including a 93-yard score.

Wesco will visit Clemson, TCU and Tennessee after already visiting USC in late May. His father is in the Louisiana Tech Hall of Fame as a triple jumper. His sister plays soccer at Oklahoma. Bryant has a 48′ triple jump and 22’ long jump. He creates good separation and makes contested catches.
