LSU transfer shortstop Carter Young signs with Orioles

Former Vanderbilt shortstop Carter Young, who transferred this summer to LSU, will not play for the Tigers after all.
Instead, he is signing with the Baltimore Orioles.
Per sources the #Orioles have signed 17th round pick SS, Carter Young for $1.325 million. Young hit 23 home runs with an .807 OPS over 135 games with Vanderbilt. He transferred to LSU following the season.

Young agreeed to a $1.33 million bonus before Monday’s signing deadline. He was a 17th round pick (497th overall).
LSU officially announced Young’s transfer this past Friday.
Young has been the starting shortstop for the Commodores since his freshman season in 2020 but slumped this year to a .207 batting average. By the NCAA Tournament, Vanderbilt had removed the switch hitter from the starting lineup.
