LSU takes down UMBC, 77-50

BATON ROUGE – LSU won its third straight home game to open up the season as they defeated UMBC by a score of 77-50 on Tuesday night in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.

LSU improved to 3-1 on the season.

Charles Manning Jr. had his best game as a Tiger tonight against, scoring a season-high 16 points and shooting 6-of-8 from the field. Darius Days registered his second career double-double as he scored 10 points and came down with 10 rebounds.

Freshman Trendon Watford continued to impress as he recorded his first career double-double, scoring 12 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. James Bishop, a freshman from Baltimore, Md., scored a career high 9 points off of the bench for LSU. He also led the team in assists with four. The Tigers dominated the boards as they out-rebounded the Retrievers 49-3.

Dimitrije Spasojevic led the Retrievers in points with 14 and in rebounds with 6. Darnell Rogers provided a spark off of the bench as he scored 6 points, recorded 3 assists, and grabbed 2 rebounds. LJ Owens was the second leading scorer for UMBC as he scored 10 points and added 5 rebounds.

The Tigers will be back in action on Friday November 22 where they will face off against the Utah State Aggies in the Jamaica Classic at Montego Bay. The game can be seen on CBSSN at 6:00 p.m. CT. For the full recap, check back later at lsusports.net.
