LSU has zeroed in on the final two hires to fill out its football coaching staff. Both coaches will work under new defensive coordinator Daronte Jones.

Miami Hurricanes defensive coordinator Blake Baker is finalizing a deal to become the Tigers linebackers coach as first reported by Sports Illustrates’s Ross Dellenger. The 38-year old former Tulane linebacker was Louisiana Tech’s defensive coordinator before spending the past two seasons at Miami.

New York Jets defensive line coach Andre Carter is also set to take on the same role at LSU, reports The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman.

The 41-year old former assistant defensive line coach for the Miami Dolphins (2017-’18) was the defensive line coach for the New York Jets the past two years (2019-’20). Carter worked with Jones while in Miami. His wife Roslyn Jones played soccer at LSU.

Carter, a first round choice of the San Francisco 49ers in 2001 following an All American career at Cal, was Pro Bowl selection while with the Patriots in 2011. He totaled 517 career tackles, 80.5 sacks and 18 forced fumbles, lining up as an outside linebacker in a 3-4 alignment.
