As one would expect, the transfer portal has become a way of life in college football. LSU has already had 10 of their players enter the transfer portal while taking in 14 transfers in their 2022 class.

Running back Corey Kiner is the latest Tigers addition to the portal. I suspect a few more will consider that option once the Tigers conclude spring drills.

As for Kiner, he is headed home to continue his college foorball career at hometown school Cincinnati.

The 5-foot-10, 217-pound sophomore was named Mr. Football in the state of Ohio in 2020 after rushing for 1,866 yards with 35 touchdowns as a senior. He missed some time recently during spring practice with an ankle injury. In 11 contests in ’21, he totaled 324 rushing yards and two scores.

Defensive back Pig Cage, who arrived at LSU just a year ago after spending a season at Nicholls State, entered the portal recently and has found a new home at UTSA.

The areas that Brian Kelly hopes to address with remaining slots available are offensive line, tight end, cornerback and defensive tackle. Bare in mind, despite what seems to be solid at one position is just a player or so away from being a major need if the transfer portal comes into play. Coaches have to keep all options open.

A few names to keep tabs on who are currently in the transfer portal:

Georgia center Clay Webb, a five-star prospect in 2019, has three years of eligibility remaining. The 6-3, 290 pounder can play center or guard. He has good knee bend and is very physical. In part due to a wrestling background, Webb plays with above-average balance. However, he struggled to earn snaps at UGA.

Webb could get time at tackle in a pinch. He started as an eighth grader at left tackle on his high school team in Alabama. The former No. 1 center prospect in the ’19 class was the second overall rated prospect in state of Alabama.

Ohio State cornerback Sevyn Banks (6-1, 200) is a graduate transfer who considered entering 2022 NFL Draft. He changed his mind. His brother Marcel Harris played four seasons in the NFL with the 49ers.

Banks has lined up in 28 games for the Buckeyes with nine starts at cornerback. He totaled 43 tackles, 13 pass breakups and a pair of interceptions, one coming in the Sugar Bowl against Clemson. Injuries have been his primary problem, in 312 defensive snaps in 2021 over six starts, Banks tallied seven tackles and one pass defensed.

Offensive tackle Tyrese Williams (6-2, 300), an interior offensive lineman at Oklahoma State, is a product of Houston. He has two years of eligibility remaining. Williams has seen primarily spot duty with the Cowboys.

Texas A&M offensive guard Derick Hunter (6-4, 305) has three years remaining to play. The former four-star defensive tackle in 2019 could revert back to defense or remain at guard, depending on where he lands.
