Changes continue in Baton Rouge as the LSU roster faces defections.

Starting quarterback Max Johnson will enter the NCAA Transfer Portal, he announced on Twitter on Tuesday night.

“LSU, Thank you for allowing me to pursue my academic and athletic career here,” Johnson posted via Twitter. “I have made strong relationships that will last a lifetime with coaches, staff and especially my teammates! With careful and prayerful consideration, I am entering the transfer portal.”

The son of Super Bowl winning quarterback Brad Johnson took over the starting job behind center late in 2020 and remained the starter throughout this past season.

Not surprising, the Tigers’ 2022 class lost Jake Johnson, Max’s brother and the top-ranked senior tight end in the nation.

With their only other scholarship quarterback (Garrett Nussmeier) intending to redshirt, LSU may have to rely on walk-on options for their bowl game next month.
