FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The LSU men’s track and field team claimed its 23rd Southeastern Conference outdoor championship on Saturday night at John McDonnell Field with 105 points.

Head coach Dennis Shaver’s 4×400-meter relay team of Dorian Camel, Correion Mosby, Jaron Flournoy and Tyler Terry finished second in the event to unseat defending champion Florida, 105-95, and claim the Tigers’ first outdoor SEC title since 1990.

Individual SEC titles were earned by JuVaughn Harrison (high jump, 2.24m, 7-4 1/4), Christian Miller (triple jump, 16.16m, 53-0 1/4) and Mondo Duplantis (pole vault, 6.00m, 19-8 1/4), while the 4×100-meter relay (38.85) led the charge for the Purple and Gold early on the final day.

Minutes before the 4×400 relay, Duplantis set the NCAA Outdoor pole vault record with a leap of 6.00m (19-8 1/4) for 10 team points that moved the Tigers ahead of the Gators, 97-91. Mondo, whose brother Antoine hit a three-run home run to beat Arkansas just down the street earlier Saturday, broke Lawrence Johnson’s 1996 record of 5.98m (19-7 1/2).

The Lady Tigers also put forth a special performance on Saturday, led by Sha’Carri Richardson who completed the meet triple with wins in the 100 meters (11.00), 200 meters (22.57) and anchoring LSU’s 4×100-meter relay (42.93) title.

With 83 points, LSU’s women finished fourth in the team competition, two points behind Texas A&M (85) and a point behind Kentucky (84). Homestanding Arkansas (139.5 points) won the meet for the fifth time in six seasons. A full recap will be posted to LSUsports.net later this evening.
