LSU great Kevin Mawae to join New York Jets’ Ring of Honor on Oct. 1
Former LSU center Kevin Mawae will be inducted into the New York Jets’ Ring of Honor on Oct. 1, the team announced Tuesday.
The ceremony is planned for halftime of the Jets’ home game against Jacksonville in the Meadowlands.
Seattle selected him in the second round of the 1994 NFL Draft. After four seasons with the Seahawks, Mawae played half of his 16 career seasons with the Jets before spending his last four years with the Tennessee Titans. The Pro Football Hall of Fame candidate played in eight Pro Bowls and earned seven All Pro selections.
Mawae played at LSU from 1990-93, earning All-SEC honors twice. 1990-93. He was a second round pick by Seattle in 1994, the 36th player taken. The Leesville High alum was inducted into the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame in 2013.
