EUNICE, La. – LSU Eunice took another weekend sweep after a come-from-behind 9-4 win over National Park College on Sunday at Bengal Stadium. LSUE (6-0) swept its first two series of the season for the seventh consecutive season.

LSUE gave the Nighthawks the early lead as NPC struck for three runs in the opening frame off two hits, an error and two walks. The Bengals would scratch a run across in the bottom half after a sacrifice fly from Peyton LeJeune.

National Park would push its lead up to 4-1 an inning later on a sacrifice ground out. That would set the stage for an exceptional effort by the LSUE bullpen.

The Bengals would allow just four base runners the next five innings thanks to Drew Lasseigne and Dalton Burrell. The pair combined for nine of the Bengals’ 15 strikeouts while Burrell picked up his first win of the season after two no-hit innings of relief.

LSUE would use a fourth inning Christian Gonzales sacrifice fly, a sixth inning National Park throwing error and a Thomas Papadopoulos RBI single to tie the game, 4-4, heading into the seventh inning. The Bengals would then bust the game open with a five-spot headlined by two RBI singles from Kole Myers and Brandon Mooney. Alexander Saunier would score the final run on a wild pitch.

Myers led the Bengals offensively with a 1-for-3 game, driving in a pair of runs and scoring three times.

Jackson Rodriguez and Jackson Fraser would finish the Nighthawks by getting five of the final six outs by strikeout.

LSUE will continue its season opening homestand on Friday with Monroe College in town. The four-game series starts at 6:00PM from Bengal Stadium.
