LSU 2020 Game Notes: Tigers host Ole Miss in season finale

• LSU (4-5) plays its final game of the 2020 season on Saturday when the Tigers host Ole Miss (4-4) in Tiger Stadium.
• Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. CT and will be televised on the SEC Network.
• LSU will honor its 16 seniors during pre-game on Saturday.
• LSU is coming off its biggest win of the season, a 37-34 win over No. 6 Florida in Gainesville.
• LSU is 63-41-4 all-time against Ole Miss, which includes a 4-0 mark under head coach Ed Orgeron.
• The Tigers have won four straight and five of the last six meetings with Ole Miss. LSU’s Tiger Stadium win streak over Ole Miss is five games. Last year, LSU posted a 58-37 win over Ole Miss in Oxford. Ole Miss last beat LSU in 2015 by a 38-17 count in Oxford. Ole Miss’ last win in Tiger Stadium came in 2008 by a 31-13 score.
• Orgeron is 44-14 as head coach of the Tigers.
• Of Orgeron’s 44 wins with the Tigers, 33 have come by double-figures, 19 have come against teams ranked in the Top 25 with 13 of those coming against Top 10 opponents. Orgeron is 13-4 against Top 10 teams at LSU.
• The win over No. 6 Florida ran LSU’s streak of consecutive seasons with at least one victory over a Top 10 opponent to four straight and 10 of the last 11 years. The only season since 2010 that LSU didn’t have a Top 10 win came in 2016.
• LSU is 26-1 overall under Orgeron and 3-0 in 2020 when having a 100-yard rusher.
• LSU has had either a 100-yard rusher or receiver in 8 games this year.
• In 9 games, LSU has used 22 first-time starters (10 vs. Mississippi State, 3 vs. Vanderbilt, 1 vs. Missouri, 3 vs. South Carolina, 1 vs. Auburn, 1 vs. Texas A&M, 3 vs. Florida).
• LSU has played 19 true freshmen this year, which ties with South Carolina and Tennessee for most in the SEC in 2020.
• True freshman QB Max Johnson went the distance against Florida, completing 21-of-36 passes for 239 yards and 3 TDs. He became the third player to start at QB for LSU this year – the most for the Tigers since 2008 when Andrew Hatch, Jarrett Lee and Jordan Jefferson all started games at the position.
• LSU is 3-3 this year with a true freshman starting at quarterback (Johnson 1-0, TJ Finley 2-3).
• Against Florida, LSU true freshmen accounted for 3 of LSU’s 4 TDs, all 239 passing yards, 143 of 239 receiving yards and 52 of 179 rushing yards.
• Offensively, LSU ranks No. 5 in the SEC in passing offense (298.6), and No. 6 in both total offense (416.2) and scoring (29.7).
• LSU’s two true freshmen quarterbacks Max Johnson and TJ Finley have combined to complete 141-of-239 passes for 1,575 yards and 10 TDs. Johnson is 61-of-99 for 634 yards and 5 TDs with no interceptions, while Finley has connected on 80-of-140 passes for 941 yards, 5 TDs and 5 interceptions.
• RB Ty Davis-Price leads the Tigers in rushing with 446 yards and 3 TDs. He has a pair of 100-yard games (104 vs. Arkansas, 135 vs. South Carolina) and LSU is 2-0 in those games.
• RB Chris Curry is coming off his best game of the season with 64 yards on 17 carries against Florida.
• LSU’s top active receiver is true freshman WR Kayshon Boutte with 31 receptions for 427 yards and 2 TDs. Boutte has had back-to-back 100-yard games (8-111 vs. Alabama, 5-108 1 TD vs. Florida).
• Other top receivers for LSU include Jaray Jenkins (22-386 2 TDs) and Koy Moore (16-114).
• 15 different players have caught passes for LSU this year and seven players have caught at least one TD pass.
• Defensively, LSU ranks No. 2 in the SEC in third-down conversions, holding opponents to 42-of-114 opportunities for 36.8 percent.
• LSU scored its third defensive TD of the season against Florida when CB Eli Ricks returned an interception 68 yards for a touchdown. Ricks has returned two interceptions for TDs, while LB Jabril Cox has the other.
• LB Damone Clark lead the Tigers in tackles with 59, while S Jacoby Stevens follows with 58 tackles to go along with 6.0 TFL and 3.0 sacks. Clark has recorded 22 tackles in his last two games (13 vs. Alabama, 9 vs. Florida)
• Other defensive leaders for LSU include LB Jabril Cox (51 tackles, 5.5 TFL, 1.0 sack, 2 interceptions), DE Ali Gaye (26 tackles, 9.5 TFL, 2.0 sacks) and DE Andre Anthony (20 tackles, 4.5 sacks).
• DE Gaye ranks No. 5 in the SEC in tackles for loss with 9.5.
• CB Eli Ricks leads the SEC in interceptions with 4 and in interceptions returned for TDs with 2.
• PK Cade York is 14-of-17 on field goals and with eight of his field goals coming from 40-yards or longer. York is 8-of-11 on field goals of 40+ yards this year (3-of-4 on 40-49 and 5-of-7 on 50+).
• York kicked a career-long 57-yard field goal with 23 seconds left last week to beat Florida.
• P Zach Von Rosenberg ranks No. 6 in the SEC in punting average (44.1) and he leads the league in punts downed inside the 20 with 25. He’s twice been named the Ray Guy Punter of the Week (vs. Mississippi State and Arkansas).
• As a team, LSU ranks No. 3 in the SEC in net punting with a 42.4 average.

LSU Under Louisiana’s Own Ed Orgeron
*In his fourth full season as head coach of the Tigers, Orgeron continues to gain momentum on the field and on the recruiting trail.
*Orgeron has guided the Tigers to a 44-14 overall mark and is 13-4 against Top 10 teams at LSU.
*He has led the Tigers to five postseason victories – one in the SEC Championship Game, two bowl games and two in the College Football Playoffs.
*Of LSU’s 44 wins under Orgeron, 33 have come by double-figures and 13 have been over Top 10 teams. The 13 Top 10 wins rank as the second-most for a coach in LSU history, trailing only Les Miles who won 16 games over Top 10 opponents in 12 years.
*Under Orgeron, the Tigers have played 46-of-58 games ranked in the Top 25, including every game in 2018 and 2019.

LSU is 14-1 Following A Loss Under Orgeron
*LSU goes into the Ole Miss game with a 14-1 mark under Ed Orgeron in games following a loss.
*Prior to the Alabama loss, the Tigers had never lost back-to-back games under Orgeron.
*The Tigers are 4-1 in 2020 in games following a loss, beating Vanderbilt, South Carolina, Arkansas and No. 6 Florida in the next game after defeats.

The Shoe Game
*On the winning drive, LSU looked set to punt after a third down stop from the Gators, but the referees flagged Florida for a personal foul after a defensive player threw Kole Taylor’s shoe down the field following the stop.
*That led to a LSU record of the longest field goal made in program history – Cade York hit the 57 yard field goal (a career-long) to defeat the No. 6 Gators.

York Named SEC Special Team Player of the Week
*York’s game-winning 57 yard field goal at Florida was a school record and the second longest in NCAA FBA play in 2020 (Jeremiah Haydel, Texas St., 58 yards), earning him SEC Special Teams Player of the Week.
*The kick is tied for the ninth longest in SEC history and the longest in the SEC this eason.
*York is 5-of-6 from 50+ yards this season which is the best in the FBS – he is 9-of-11 for his career.
*He also added two more field goals at Florida – a 39 and 30 yard field goals – and was perfect 4-of-4 on PATs.
*Against Alabama York hit a 52 yard field goal. Headded two more field goals to his resume at Arkansas – a 49 yard field goal that opened the scoring for the Tigers, taking a 3-0 lead and a 24 yard field goal in the second quarter to end the half and give the Tigers a 20-14.
*After Florida, he is now 14-of-17 on the year and 31-of-31 on PATs
*With 225 career points, York moves in to the Top 10 in LSU ranks in total points by a kicker at No. 5.
*He has made 74 consecutive PATs which ranks him fifth in LSU history in consecutive PAT kicks made. Last PAT missed was at Alabama in 2019. He is one away from tying Andre LeFluer in fifth with 69.
*He is the only player in school history to make multiple 50+ yard field goals in the same game (11/30/19 vs. TAMU, 51 and 50.)
*His three misses in 2020 were the blocked FG at Missouri, a 54-yard miss at Auburn and a 34-yard miss at Texas A&M, his first miss under 40-yards in his career.
*York was named a semifinalist for the Lou Groza Award last week, recognizing the top placekicker in all of college football.

Johnson’s Debut Earns SEC Offensive Player of the Week
*In his first career start, Johnson led the Tigers to a 37-34 win over No. 6 Florida in Gainesville. His performance landed him SEC Offensive Player of the Week on Monday.
*The 19-year old became the first LSU quarterback to win his debut on the road against a Top 10 team and the fourth LSU QB who won his debut in a true road game (since 1950) – JaMarcus Russell (No. 12 Florida, 2012), Robbie Mahfouz (No. 19 Florida, 1980) and Nelson Stokley (Miami, 1965).
*He completed 21-of-36 passes for 239 yards and three touchdowns – all career-highs – in the win.
*His three TDs and 21 completions were the most of any LSU true freshman in their first career start.
*He added 52 rushing yards on 18 attempts.
*It marked the first time in LSU history that the Tigers had three TD passes in a game played in Gainesville.
*He did not have a turnover as the Tigers possessed the ball for nearly 32 minutes with 418 yards of toal offense and 24 first downs.
*Two fo his three TD passes went to true freshmen, including a 4-yard strike to Tre Bradford that put the Tigers up 34-31 with 13:14 left in the contest.
*With score tied at 34-34, directed LSU on a 9-play, 36-yard drive capped with the game-winning 57-yard field goal with 23 seconds left.
*Of the past 16 first-time starters at QB, LSU’s record is 13-3 (dating back to 2002). Among these 16 games the Tigers are 7-3 against SEC opponents and 4-1 against ranked opponents.

Consecutive Starts
*S JaCoby Stevens leads the way in consecutive starts with 28 after the loss at Florida.
*There is only one other player for the Tigers that have made 10 or more consecutive starts is OL Austin Deculus (13).

Cox Leads Defense in The Swamp
*Jabril Cox led the Tigers in The Swamp on Saturday as he recorded three turnovers in win over No. 6 Florida.
*He played in every defensive snap (74) in the game and had six tackles, one tackle for a loss, three QB hurries and broke up a pair of passes.
*He had a key role in LSU holding FLorida out of the endzone on two redzone opportunities in the game. LSU stopped Florida on fourth down at hte 1-yard line on its first possession of the contest. Also halted a Florida drive at the Tiger 15-yard long int he second quarter with an interception at the 6-yard line.
*Late in the fourth quarter, the Tigers defense held Florida to a field goal after the Gators had 1st and goal at the 9-yard line.
*On the year, Cox has 51 total tackles with 5.5 tackles for a loss of 20 yards total. He has two interceptions, one for a TD, and five pass breakups and four quarterback hurries.

Ricks With Another Interception
*Freshman Eli Ricks picked up his fourth interception on the season and second pick 6 – a 68 yard interception return that put the tigers up 14-7 in the second quarter.
*With his two pick 6s this season, Ricks is ranked first nationally. His four interceptions is first in the SEC and first nationally among freshmen. It’s the second most at Power 5 school.

Boutte Steps Up For Receivers
*True freshman WR Kayshon Boutte has played a key role for the Tigers in the last two games.
*At Florida, Boutte picked up his second touchdown catch on the year – a 34 yard pass from Johnson that game the Tigers a 21-17 lead.
*His first TD catch came at Auburn in the fourth quarter – a 43 yard pass from Johnson.
*In the last two games, Boutte has made 13 catches on 21 targets for 218 yards with an average of 16.8 yards per catch.
*Eight of his catches have been for first downs.
*In nine games, Boutte has a total of 31 receptions for 427 yards and two touchdowns with a long of 43 yards coming at Auburn.
*He is averaging 13.8 yards per catch and 47.4 yards per game.

Jenkins Scores Second TD of His Career at Florida
*WR Jaray Jenkins opened up the scoring for the Tigers at Florida – receiving a 5 yard pass from Jonson to tie the game up at 7-7 in the first quarter.
*It was his second touchdown on the season and second in his career. His first TD catch game at Arkansas – a
13-yard touchdown with less than four minutes to play that gave the Tigers a 27-24 lead the rest of the game.
*At Florida, he finished with four receptions for 65 yards.
*This season Jenkins is fourth on the team in yards per game with 42.9. On 22 receptions, he has a total of 386 yards, averaging 17.5 per play.

Ward Gets First Interception of His Career
*CB Jay Ward picked up his first interception of his career at Florida, recording one of the wildest interceptions in program history.
*It was the second forced turnover of the night as Florida’s throw to its receiver was off the mark. The ball was tipped in the air while Florida’s player was falling out of bounds. The tipped pass deflected off the face of freshman corner Dwight McGlothern and into the arms of Ward, who lifted his knees from out of bounds to re-establish himself in bounds and secure the pick.
*Ward has started two games this season, making his first start at Texas A&M.
*Earlier this season, Ward blocked a potential game-tying field goal with 84 seconds to play to give the Tigers a 27-24 victory over Arkansas on a rainy Saturday in Fayetteville.
*Ward recorded LSU’s first blocked field goal since Austin Deculus against Miami in 2018.

Von Rosenberg Named Ray Guy Award Semifinalist
*Zach Von Rosenberg was named a semifinalist for the Ray Guy Punter Award last week, recognizing the best collegiate punter in college football.
*Von Rosenberg has earned Ray Guy Punter of the Week twice this season, coming after the Mississippi State game and the Arkansas game.
*Von Rosenberg is making the most of his opportunities. At Florida, he punted eight times for 357 yards with an average of 44.6 yards per punt. His long was 57 and tied a career-high with five inside the 20 yard line.
* Against Alabama, he punted six times for 206 yards with an average of 34.3 yards per punt. He had one inside the 20 and a long of 45.
*At Texas A&M, he punted a career-high 11 times for a career-high 442 yards. He averaged 40.2 yards per punt, had a long of 48 and dropped one inside the 20.
*On 54 punts, Von Rosenberg is averaging 44.1 yards a punt, which ranks seventh in the SEC.
*Of his 54 punts, 25 have been downed inside the 20-yard line and 16 50+ yarders. He has had 21 fair catches and two for touchbacks.
*He has a long of 61 this season, coming at Arkansas.
*Zach Von Rosenberg, the second oldest college football player in the country at the age of 30.
*Von Rosenberg currently ranks third in program history in career average (44.0 yards per punt), second in total career yards (8,273) and is second in total career punts (188).

Tigers See First Time Action, First Career Starts
*A total of 25 players have seen first time action this season with a total of 22 as first-time starters for LSU,
*14 Tigers made their first appearance on the field in the season opener against Mississippi State and 10 Tigers made their first career start.
*Kayshon Boutte, Myles Brennan, Jabril Cox, Darren Evans, Joseph Evans, Ali Gaye, Arik Gilbert, Racy McMath, Eli Ricks and Liam Shanahan all made their first career starts in a LSU uniform in the season opener.
*At Vanderbilt, four more Tigers saw their first action as Tigers – LG Marlon Martinez, DT Jaquelin Ron, TE Kole Taylo and WR Alex Adams.
*Five more Tigers also made their first career starts at Vanderbilt in a Tiger uniform – WR Jontre Kirklin, LT Cameron Wire, RB Tyrion Davis-Price and DT Siaki Ika.
*At Missouri, LB Antoine Sampah and CB Dwight McGlothern (true freshmen) saw his first action as a Tiger.
*Against South Carolina, true freshmen QB TJ Finley, WR Jaray Jenkins and RB John Emery Jr. all made their first starts as a Tiger. QB Max Johnson, LT Xavier Hill, RT Marcus Dumervil and LG Kardell Thomas all made their first appearances.
*At Auburn, freshman BJ Ojulari made his first start as a Tiger.

*Against Alabama, PK Preston Stafford saw his first action, coming in for an onside kick. DL Jacobian Guillory, at true freshman, also made his first appearance.
*At Florida, Max Johnson, Kole Taylor and Nick Storz all made their first start as a Tiger.

Day Game or Night Game Makes No Difference for LSU
*LSU’s tradition of night games in Tiger Stadium is like none other in college football.
*But, LSU’s recent success in day games in Tiger Stadium has made playing afternoon games in Death Valley more appealing.
*LSU has won 18 of its last 20 day games in Tiger Stadium, a stretch that goes back to a 16-14 victory over Tennessee on Oct. 2, 2010.
*Of LSU’s 18 wins during this current stretch, 10 have come against Top 25 teams and 17 were over SEC opponents.
*Since 2000, LSU is 121-21 overall at home, which includes an 93-14 mark at night in Tiger Stadium and a 29-8 record during the day. From 1960-99, LSU posted a 12-19-3 mark in day games in Tiger Stadium.

Finley/Johnson Combo
*Freshmen QBs TJ Finley and Max Johnson have had over 100 yards each three times this season, including the last two games against Texas A&M and Alabama.
*It is the most games in a single season that that the Tigers have had two quarterbacks throw for 100 or more yards in program history.
*Against Alabama, Finley finished with 144 yards, completing 14-of-28 with a TD, while Johnson finished with 110 yards, completing 11-of-17.
*At Texas A&M, Finley had 118 yards, while Johnson finished with 113. Finley was 9-of-25 and Johnson was 14-of-22.
*The other game that both finished with 100 or more yards in passing was against Auburn where Finley completed 13-of-24 for 143 yards and Johnson completed 15-of-24 for 172 yards.
*Prior to the Auburn game, the Tigers hadn’t seen two quarterbacks throw for over 100 yards each in a game since Joe Burrow and Myles Brennan both threw for over 100 yards against Northwestern St. in 2019.
*Since 1993, the Tigers have had 18 games where two quarterbacks have thrown for 100 or more yards and four since 2010.
*In 2014, Anthony Jennings and Brandon Harris both had over 100 yards, Jennings with 157 and Harris with 140. This also happened in 2010 with Jerrett Lee (124 yards) and Jordan Jefferson (100).
*On the season, Finley has a total of 941 yards, averaging 188.2 per game. He is 80-of-140 for the year with five touchdowns and have a 118.25 efficiency.
*In Johnson’s four appearances, he has 395 yards, completing 40-of-63 with an average of 98.8 yards per game. He has two touchdowns on the year and a 126.63 efficiency.

Emery Records Career-Long Rushing TD
*Against Alabama, John Emery Jr. picked up a career-long rushing touchdown, a 54-yard run.
*The touchdown was his third on the year.
*He is second on the team in rushing with 389 yards on 71 carries.
*Emery is averaging 46.4 yards per game and 5.2 yards per carry.

Damone Clark Records Career-High in Tackles Against Alabama
*LB Damone Clark led the Tigers on defense against Alabama, recording a career-high 13 tackles.
*He is second on the team with 50 total tackles, including one sack and 2.5 tackles for a loss of 12 total yards.

Kirklin Picks Up A Fumble Return TD
*WR Jontre Kirklin picked up his first career fumble return TD against Alabama.
*Kayshon Boutte caught a 44 yard pass from TJ Finley, but he dropped it in the endzone. Kirklin picked up the ball in the endzone to score for the Tigers.
*Kirklin now has three touchdowns on the season. This was his first since he had two receiving touchdowns at Vanderbilt earlier this season.

Baskerville Steps Up On Defense
*Micah Baskerville has started the last four games at linebacker and has stepped up for the Tigers.
*He has tallied 33 tackles in the last four of five games, including seven against Alabama.
*He had a career-high of 12 tackles at Texas A&M, including 7 solos. He had one for a loss of a yard and recorded his first forced fumble in his career.
*At Arkansas, he finished second on the team with four tackles, including three solos.
*He led the Tigers in tackles at Auburn, recording a total of 10 tackles, including six solo and one for loss.
*He has a total of 44 tackles on the year (fourth on the team) with 2.5 for a loss of three yards total and one quarterback hurry.

Flott Picks Up Career-High in Tackles at Texas A&M.
*CB Cordale Flott picked up a career-high eight tackles at Texas A&M, including seven solo and one for a loss of four yards.
*He recorded a career-high two pass deflections and has four on the year.
*On the season, Flott is fifth on the team in tackles with 40, including 29 solo. He has 4.5 tackles for a total loss of 18 yards.

Marshall Gets 23rd Career Touchdown at Texas A&M
*Marshall recorded his 10th touchdown of the season at Texas A&M, a 3-yard reception to give the Tigers their only score of the game in the final 40 seconds of the game.
*He finished the game with 134 on 10 receptions with a long of 54. He averaged 13.4 yards per catch.
*He has 23 career touchdowns and is three touchdowns away from tying the career touchdown catch record – Dwayne Bowe (26, 2003-06). He currently is tied with Ja’Marr Chase (23) in fifth.
*On the year, Marshall the receivers with 731 yards and 10 touchdowns.
*Marshall has opted out of the 2020 season, announcing the opt-out after the Texas A&M game.
*He has caught at least one TD pass in 13 of 20 games that he’s started during his career and had seven straight games with a TD pass, dating back to lthe final three games of last season and the first four games of 2020.
*He has eight games in his career with multiple touchdowns, including four this season.
*He had two reception TDs in four straight games (Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, Missouri, South Carolina) which is the longest streak by an SEC player since Keenan Burton in 2006 for Kentucky. Marshall and Burton are the only two SEC players with two reception TDs in four straight games over the last 25 seasons.
*He tied the LSU record for touchdown receptions in consecutive games (7). Marshall’s record spanned two seasons; the final three games of 2019 and the first four games of 2020.
*His 235 yards at Missouri was the first 200+ yard receiving game for an LSU receiver since Ja’Marr Chase against Clemson in the Nation Championship last year and the fourth most a Tiger receiver has ever had in a game.
*He picked up a longest touchdown reception in his career at Missouri – a 75 yard pass from Brennan that gave the Tigers a 37-31 lead. That was the longest passing TD since Burrow-to-Chase vs. TAMU in 2019.
*He was third in total yards with 731, fourth in the league in receiving yards with 104.4 per game and fifth in scoring with 9.0 points per game.

TE Gilbert LSU’s Go-To Receiver When In Need Of A First Down
*True freshman TE Arik Gilbert has become LSU’s go-to receiver when the Tigers need a play to keep the chains moving.
*Of his 35 receptions this year, 24 have resulted in either a first down or touchdown.
*Of the 24 receptions that resulted in a first down, 11 came on third or fourth down (9 on third down, 2 on fourth down).
*Against Alabama, Gilbert had five receptions for a total of 29 yards. Two of those receptions resulted in a first down.
*At Texas A&M, Gilbert caught three passes for 25 yards and two of those resulted in a first down (one coming on third down).
*The two first down catches came in the final drive for the Tigers which resulted in a touchdown. Johnson hit Gilbert for 15 yards to take the Tigers to the 3-yard.
*Against Arkansas, Gilbert caught five passes and four of those resulted in a first down (three of the four came on either third or fourth down).
*The four receptions he had against Arkansas that resulted in first downs kept drives alive that eventually led to two touchdowns and a field goal.
*On LSU’s game-winning drive in the fourth quarter, Gilbert hauled in a 16-yard reception on third-and-nine at the Arkansas 24-yard line that gave the Tigers a fresh set of downs.
*LSU scored the game-winning TD three plays later when TJ Finley connected with Jaray Jenkins for a 13-yard touchdown.
*For the year, Gilbert has caught 35 passes for 368 yards and 2 TDs. He has the most yards of any active receiver on the team.

Ty Davis-Price Picks Up Second 100-yard Game of Season
*Davis-Price picked up his second 100-yard game of the season at Arkansas, finishing with 104 yards. It is his second 100-yard game in his career.
*His first 100+ game came against South Carolina when he rushed for 135 yards.
*At Arkansas, he rushed for his third touchdown of the season and his ninth in his career – a one yard rush TD to give the Tigers a 17-7 lead in the second quarter.

Cox Records Second Interception of the Season
*LB Jabril Cox picked up his second interception of the season at Arkansas – a 36-yard interception return in the second quarter that set up the one yard rush TD for Davis-Price. It was his eighth in his career.
*He picked up his first interception as a Tiger and seventh in his career – a 14-yard interception that resulted in a touchdown to give the Tigers their first score of the game and a 7-3 lead in the second quarter.
*It was his third TD of his career – he returned two interceptions for touchdowns at North Dakota State (both coming in 2018).
*The last time an LSU player returned an interception for a touchdown, prior to Cox’s was Jacob Phillips vs. Miami (Sept. 2, 2018) for 45 yards.

Finley Gets Second Win as a Tiger at Arkansas
*True freshman QB TJ Finley won his second game as the starting quarterback for the Tigers.
*He finished with finished a career-high 27-of-42 passing for 271 yards with two touchdowns and no interception.

Andre Anthony Named SEC Defensive Line Player of the Week (Nov. 23)
*Senior OLB Andre Anthony picked up a career-high two sacks for a loss of 12 yards at Arkansas on Saturday, earning SEC Defensive Line Player of the Week.
*This is his first SEC Weekly honor of his career.
*On the season, Anthony has 16 total tackles including four for a loss of 24 yards. He has two pass break ups and two quarterback hurries.

LSU Goes Home with “The Boot”
*For the 24th consecutive year, LSU and Arkansas battled for “The Boot,” a 24-karat gold trophy in the shape of the states of Arkansas and Louisiana that resembles a boot. LSU has now won the trophy 17 times, including the last five years – 1996, 1997, 1999, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020.
*Arkansas has claimed the trophy eight times 1998, 2000, 2002, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2014 and 2015.
*“The Boot” sat on the LSU sidelines during game and was given to the Tigers following the 27-24 victory.

Trio Accepts Invite to Senior Bowl
*LSU wide receiver Racey McMath and linebacker Jabril Cox along with former Tiger defensive back Kary Vincent Jr. have all accepted invites to participate in the 2021 Senior Bowl, the all star game announced on Nov. 17.
*The Senior Bowl, which takes place at Hancock Whitney Stadium in Mobile, Ala., is the premier college football all star game featuring elite draft prospects from across the country. The week-long event gives those players invited an opportunity to showcase their talent to all 32 NFL teams. The week includes meetings with NFL personnel, media obligations, practice and culminates with the game on Saturday.
*The 2021 Senior Bowl is scheduled for Jan. 30 and will be televised on the NFL Network. In addition, game-week practices and daily interviews are televised on both the NFL Network and ESPN.
*Vincent, who started in nine games a year ago including the national championship win over Clemson, opted out of the 2020 season. Vincent had 47 tackles and ranked second on the team with four interceptions during LSU’s 15-0 campaign in 2019.

Max Johnson Makes First Touchdown Pass in Second Appearance
*True freshman Max Johnson made his first touchdown pass in a Tiger uniform at Auburn – a 43 yard pass to true freshman Kayshon Boutte in the fourth quarter.
*Johnson finished the game completing 15 of 24 passes for a total of 172 yards with one touchdown.
*True freshman TJ Finley started his second straight game and went 13-for-24 in the air for 143 yards.

Trey Palmer and BJ Ojulari Pick Up First SEC Weekly Honors of the Season (Oct. 26)
*Trey Palmer and BJ Ojulari picked up the first SEC weekly honors of the season as Palmer was named Special Teams Player of the Week and Ojulari was named Defensive Line Player of the Week.
*Palmer returned a kickoff for a touchdown (93 yards), his first of his career, in the third quarter against South Carolina which was the first kickoff return in Tiger Stadium since Eric Martin’s against Kentucky in 1981.
*BJ Ojulari stepped up and recorded three sacks against South Carolina, the first player to record three sacks in a game since Stevens did is last season against Arkansas.

Trey Palmer Returns First Kickoff in Tiger Stadium Since 1981
*Trey Palmer returned a kickoff for a touchdown (93 yards), his first of his career, in the third quarter against South Carolina which was the first kickoff return in Tiger Stadium since Eric Martin’s against Kentucky in 1981.
*It was the first kickoff return in a season since Leonard Fournette returned a kick off (100 yards) vs. Notre Dame in the Music City Bowl on Dec. 30, 2014.

Ricks Picks Up Third Interception of the Season
*CB Eli Ricks recorde his third interception of the season against South Carolina and returned it for a 45 yard touchdown.
*He now has three interceptions in four games which is tied for first in the nation and first in the league.
*Among the freshmen in the league, he ranks second in passes defended with 1.25 per game.
*The Tigers have five on the season which is fifth in the SEC.
*With Trey Palmer’s kickoff return and Eli Ricks interception against South Carolina, the Tigers have only had those two things happen in two other games in program history. Here is a list below.
