MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The No. 2 Loyola Wolf Pack continues to rack up weekly awards from the Southern States Athletic Conference, and senior Zach Wrightsil was the latest honoree. After averaging a double-double in three games last week, including a career performance, Wrightsil was named the SSAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for the fifth time in his career Monday.

It’s the third award from the SSAC this season for the Wolf Pack, as Brandon Davis and Myles Burns have both received the Player of the Week accolade.

Wrightsil and the Wolf Pack played in the Battle at the Beach tournament last week, winning all three games and claiming the title of the Gulf Bracket. The Prosper, Texas, native started the tournament with a 17-point, eight-rebound performance against Baptist Bible College, then he scored 11 points, pulled down eight rebounds and recorded three steals in a win over LSU Alexandria the following night. Wrightsil, though, saved his best for last, scoring a season-high 21 points and grabbing a career-high 24 rebounds while notching a season-high five steals in the championship game against No. 12 Science and Arts.

Wrightsil leads the Pack by averaging 15.9 points and 9.2 rebounds through the first 10 games of the season, and he ranks third in the NAIA with 41 total offensive rebounds.

Loyola is currently 10-0 overall this season, which ties a program record for a start to a season, and it’s set to play Dillard at 7 p.m. on Tuesday inside Devlin Fieldhouse. The Wolf Pack defeated the Bleu Devils, 85-74, on the road during their first matchup earlier this season
