After finishing last season with a 21-2 overall record, the Wolf Pack earned a spot in the 2021-22 NAIA Women’s Basketball Preseason Coaches’ Top 25 Poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Association for Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) released its 2022 Women’s Basketball Preseason Coaches’ Top 25 Poll Wednesday morning, and the Loyola Wolf Pack were picked as the No. 23 team in the country.

This is the fifth-straight poll in which the Wolf Pack has received a Top-25 ranking, dating back to January 13, when the team entered the poll at No. 25.

Loyola is coming off of a 2020-21 season in which the team went 21-2 overall, setting a new program record for highest winning percentage in a season (.913). The Pack finished the season ranked No. 21 in the country and reached the Round of 32 at the 2020-21 NAIA Women’s Basketball National Championship.

The team is returning four of its Top 4 scorers from last season, as junior Taylor Thomas (11.8 ppg; 5.5 rpg, 3.8 apg), junior Sandra Cannady (10.7 ppg, 7.6 rpg), senior Kennedy Hansberry (10 ppg, 3.7 apg), and sophomore Jazmene McMillian (7.7 ppg, 3.9 rpg) are back for another season. In total, Loyola has 11 players back with the additions of McNeese State transfer Liz Critton, junior college transfer Sydni Tangle and freshman MG Lymon.

Loyola is the only member of the Southern States Athletic Conference ranked in the Top 25, but Talladega is receiving votes. After two exhibitions against NCAA DI opponents, Loyola’s regular season officially tips off on the road against another ranked team, No. 8 Wayland Baptist, on November 11 at 7 p.m.
