KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Loyola men’s basketball junior Zach Wrightsil helped the Wolf Pack go on a historic run through the NAIA Men’s Basketball National Championship earlier this month, and he was chosen to the NAIA’s 10-man All-Tournament Team Tuesday evening.

Wrightsil scored 25 or more points in two of the three tournament games and he recorded one double-double, averaging 23.6 points, 8.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists over the course of the tournament against three nationally-ranked teams. More impressively, the Prosper, Texas, native also played 40 or more minutes in each game of the tournament, playing 41-plus minutes in Loyola’s overtime quarterfinal loss to Lewis-Clark State.

The Wolf Pack dismantled Talladega 78-55, in the Opening Round of the NAIA tournament, as Wrightsil led the Wolf Pack with 25 points and seven assists. He went 6-for-10 from the field, including 12-of-18 from the charity stripe, while also connecting on his only 3-point attempt. In the Round of 16 at Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, Wrightsil scored, again, led 11th-seeded Loyola with 19 points and five assists in a 69-62 win over the sixth seed, Marian. Finally, in the Wolf Pack’s first NAIA Quarterfinal appearance since 1946, the junior led everyone on the floor with a game-high 27 points on 12-of-22 shooting to go along with his 10 rebounds. Loyola fell to No. 3 Lewis-Clark State 75-70 in overtime in that game to end the season.

Wrightsil led the team in scoring, rebounding and assists this season, averaging nearly a double-double with 17 points and 9.7 rebounds per game. He also averaged 3.8 assists and played 34.9 minutes per game in his third season at Loyola. Entering his senior season next year, Wrightsil is already high on multiple career Top 10 lists in the program’s history. He’s third in career rebounds (757), fourth in career assists (355), fifth in career blocks (84) and 10th in career points (1,448).
