RUSTON, La. – Louisiana Tech defensive back BeeJay Williamson was named the Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week, it was announced by the league on Monday.

The sophomore also earned the Louisiana Sports Writers Association (LSWA) Defensive Player of the Week honor.

Williamson notched two interceptions which he returned for 62 total yards in the 45-42 victory over Southeastern on Saturday. He was the first Bulldog to record two interceptions in a game since he accomplished the feat against UAB on Oct. 31, 2020.

The native of Dallas, Texas, scored the first points of Saturday’s game in his 45-yard pick six midway through the first quarter. Williamson became the seventh Bulldog in the last 23 games to register a pick six. The pick marked the 15th pick six for LA Tech since 2017, which leads the country.
