RUSTON, La. – Louisiana Tech head coach Lane Burroughs and his coaching staff announced two transfers this week that will join the Bulldogs in the 2023 season.

The first addition to the 2023 roster is Rawley Hector who transfers in after one season at Texas A&M. Hector, a native of Van Alstyne, Texas, is a right-handed pitcher who boasted a 1-0 record with his lone win coming in a midweek victory over No. 8 Texas.

“When I came on my visit I loved the coaching staff, the school and everyone I came in contact with in Ruston,” said Hector. “I know they have a winning program, and I am excited to be a part of it. I can’t wait to play in front of Bulldog nation at the Love Shack.”

In his true freshman season, he appeared in nine games while posting a 7-2 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 14.2 innings. Hector was also a part of the 2019 18u USA National Team in which he threw five innings allowing two earned runs on three hits and punched out three.

Brody Drost is the second addition to the 2023 LA Tech roster who will come to Ruston after spending two seasons at LSU. Drost, a Barbe High School graduate and 2020 Louisiana Gatorade Player of the Year, played in 37 games and started in 20 during his freshman season in 2021.

“My decision to become a Bulldog was a no brainer from the start,” said Drost. “The coaches went out of their way to make me feel important and like a priority. I talked to some of the players that went here and some that were still here and they all said they wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. It was also a huge bonus to be able to stay in Louisiana and play for great fans in Ruston.”

The Lake Charles native made starts at each of the three outfield positions for the Tigers in 2021 and hit .226 with five homers, three doubles, 14 RBI and 14 runs. Drost was named the No. 100 ranked player in the country by Perfect Game and was named the 2019 Class 5A State Tournament MVP in his time at Barbe High School.
