Louisiana Tech announces 2019 football schedule
RUSTON, La. – Conference USA officials announced the league’s 2019 football schedule on Thursday, which completes Louisiana Tech’s 12-game slate for next fall.
The 14-team alignment for the 2019 season will once again feature each team playing eight conference games, along with four non-league opponents. The conference schedule is based on two seven-team divisions, with institutions playing all (6) teams within the division and two of the teams in the other division.
Charlotte, Florida Atlantic, FIU, Marshall, Middle Tennessee, Old Dominion and WKU comprise the East Division, while Louisiana Tech, North Texas, Rice, Southern Miss, UAB, UTEP and UTSA make up the West Division.
The 2019 football season begins with the Bulldogs traveling to Austin, Texas, to take on the Texas Longhorns on Aug. 31 at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium. LA Tech returns to Joe Aillet Stadium on Sept. 7 for the home-opener versus I-20 neighbor Grambling State, while the next week sees the Bulldogs hitting the road to take on Bowling Green on Sept. 14.
After opening the season with three non-conference contests, Louisiana Tech will open the Conference USA slate at home for the first time since 2013 as the Bulldogs host FIU on Sept. 21 at the Joe.
LA Tech continues league play the on Sept. 28 when the Bulldogs travel to Houston to take on the Rice Owls, while the team will have a bye the weekend of Oct. 5 before hosting UMass in non-conference action on Oct. 12 in Ruston.
On Oct. 19, LA Tech will step back into league play and continue its home stand as Southern Miss comes to town to face off against the Bulldogs. The following week will see the ’Dogs fly to El Paso, Texas, to battle the UTEP Miners on Oct. 26.
The Bulldogs will open the month of November with the team’s second bye of the season prior to the final four games of the 12-game slate. LA Tech picks back up on Nov. 9 by hosting West Division foe North Texas at Joe Aillet Stadium.
The next two weeks will see LA Tech hit the road for a pair of C-USA contests at Marshall on Nov. 16 and at UAB on Nov. 23 before closing out the regular season at home against UTSA on Nov. 30.
It is important to note that all games are subject to date changes and some dates are expected to move in the coming weeks in order accommodate national television.
A schedule of televised games will be released at a later date.
Conference USA’s 15th annual Championship Game, pitting the champions of the East and West Divisions, is scheduled for Saturday, December 7.
