Below is a ranking of the top wrestlers at each weight in the state regardless of division. It is a composite ranking set based on a variety of factors and overall performance.

106
1. Jacob Houser 25-2 (StP)
2. Mason Elsensohn 23-5 (BM)
3. Ernie Perry 22-1 (AIR)
4. David Viers 20-11 (PKY)
5. Brandon Gainey 15-14 (HC)

Perry does not have the resumes of Houser or Elsensohn. He should be seeded third at the LACL. Gainey has losses to Elsensohn, 2-0 and a 3rd period pin when he was only down 2-0, and 4-1 to Houser.

113
1. Evan Frost 32-1 (HC)
2. Glenn Price 38-0 (SHW)
3. Kent Burandt 13-4 (BM)
4. Dohnavan McMichael 33-4 (StL)
5. Ty Didier 38-5 (StA)

Frost a returning Division I state champ has dominated all season and has one out of state loss. Price only went to 120 for the Cortez Duals – he will be back at 113.

120
1. Jacob Frost 29-2 (HC)
2. Joshua Sarpy 24-3 (ND)
3. Josh Keeler 24-2 (PKY)
4. Alex Yokubaitis 30-0 (StL)
5. Logan Bertot 6-4 (BM)

This is one competitive weight class. There is also Alex Menier, a 5-4 runner-up at the Culotta to factor into the mix. Yokubaitis, 30-0, is also a three-time defending Division III state champion. Sarpy surprised him at last year’s LACL, losing to Jacob Frost in the finals 2-0. Sarpy’s losses are all out-of-state, including two at the Beast of the East.

126
1. Clayton Hill 45-2 (LO)
2. Matthew Carrier 18-0 (TC)
3. Ethan Castex 21-8 (BM)
4. Dylan Lauriano 14-3 (HC)
5. Hunter Goodson 19-6 (CAT)

Bertot has already dropped to 120. Carrier cannot be dismissed at 18-0. Castex, a two-time state placer, has been phenomenal this year and is undefeated in LA as well.

132
1. Ashton Surrency 22-1 (SHW)
2. Peter Kelly 25-4 (CAT)
3. Charles Sauerwin 15-7 (HC)
4. Quinn Williams 23-8 (BM)
5. Anthony Krass 42-5 (EA)

This weight class is waiting for someone to take charge. Signorelli of Holy Cross could if he can compete again. Sauerwin beat Williams last Wednesday in the dual between Brother Martin and Holy Cross.

138
1. Demetri Teddie 41-2 (BYR)
2. Corey Brownell 38-2 (StA)
3. Jacob Ramirez 32-7 (RUM)
4. Connor Hoffman 10-4 (BM)
5. Grant Nastasi 23-6 (StP)

Teddie is the fastest kid on the mats this season. Brownell has lost to him twice by one-point margins. Ramirez won the last match against Hoffman, and it was in a tournament whereas Hoffman beat him earlier in a dual meet.

145
1. Alex Duncan 32-4 (BM)
2. Rayden Ingram 16-1 (LO)
3. Luke Battaglia 19-6 (JES)
4. Cameron Doyle 15-6 (HC)
5. Josiah Wakefield 22-5 (EA)

Duncan, another returning Division I state champ, is undefeated in LA.

152
1. Peyton Ward 28-1 (StP)
2. Richard Mack 18-2 (ND)
3. Riley Horvath 28-7 (BM)
4. Jacob Yawn 33-4 (BYR)
5. Brad Mahoney 47-4 (EA)

Ward beat Horvath in the dual meet, and Horvath beat him at the Culotta. Ward won the Prep Slam while Horvath was fourth though. Richard Mack was a D2 state champion in 2018 and his only two losses this year were at the Beast of the East. He lost two matches to Lance Robinson last season by only one point, who won the LACLASSIC at 145 and Division II at 152. Mahoney lost to Yawn twice this year, despite his record.

160
1. Mason Massicot 22-5 (BM)
2. Ben Davidson 21-7 (StP)
3. Ian Wyble 19-2 (CAT)
4. Santos Ramos 41-5 (EA)
5. Charles Cyrus 20-9 (JES)

Davidson wrestled fine against Massicot both matches, though he may drop to 152 as Ward has already competed at 145 lbs. Ian Wyble’s only two losses were to Massicot and Davidson.

170
1. Trent Mahoney 54-0 (EA)
2. Shad Sheffie 14-5 (StM)
3. Blain Cascio 21-7 (StP)
4. Canon Hunt 24-5 (CAT)
5. Logan Lewis 30-7 (BYRD)

Lewis lost the Shad Sheffie of St. Michael twice. Sheffie’s five losses all came from Mahoney.

182
1. Isaac Cortez 7-0 (BAS)
2. Jarin Meyer 21-1 (BR)
3. David Bernard 15-1 (TC)
4. Macullen Mire 26-5 (CAT)
5. Nawab Singh 35-8 (LO)

Cortez will get better as the season progresses this season. No matches under his belt and he still dominated the Trey Culotta. Bernard’s only loss was to an Oklahoma wrestler, and he is a defending Division II state champion who won the LACLASSIC last year.

195
1. Christopher Allen 28-0 (COV)
2. Chase Spooner 7-0 (SB)
3. Cameron Frederick 25-6 (BM)
4. Evan Ulfers 20-5 (StP)
5. Tanner Melendrez 29-5 (FNT)

Spooner dominated everyone at the Trey Culotta. He and Allen should be a great match. Allen should have the edge as he is hard to score upon and is taller than Spooner.

220
1. Cole Ulfers 23-3 (StP)
2. Axel Encalada-Arce 23-0 (BR)
3. Logan Brimmer 15-0 (HNV)
4. Ashton Freeman 7-1 (ZAC)
5. Kyle West 11-5 (BM)

Ulfers has only lost to out of state competition.

285
1. Trey White 12-0 (EVA)
2. Donald Paul 20-0 (COM)
3. Cole Baiamonte 14-4 (HC)
4. Gavin Soniat 21-2 (EA)
5. John Drake 14-2 (JC)

Trey White is not only undefeated but he, along with Peyton Ward, won the Prep Slam. Baiamonte is a plucky sophomore and is hard to score on. His only Louisiana loss was a 1-0 decision by Paul. And John Drake has only lost to Paul and Soniat.
