Loaded tournament field highlights Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate

Fifteen of the nation’s top 50 teams to compete at this year’s championship

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University will play host to some of the nation’s top women’s golf teams for the 2019 Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate Golf Championship.

This year’s field once again features many of the top teams in the country, headlined by eight of the Top 25 and 15 of the Top 50 teams in the nation, according to the most recent Golfstat.com Rankings.

“This truly has become one of the top women’s collegiate golf tournaments in the country and we could not be more excited to welcome some of the nation’s top teams to our home course,” head coach Lorne Don said. “To have 15 of the nation’s top 50 teams at English Turn should provide us with one of the most competitive fields we have ever had in the tournament’s nine years.”

This year’s field features the top four teams in the country, including USC (No. 1), Texas (No. 2), Florida (No. 3) and Duke (No. 4).

Seven different conferences are represented among this year’s slate of competitors, including each Power 6 conference. The 18 teams have combined to win 21 national championships.

Arizona State (1990, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1997, 1998, 2009, 2017) has eight titles, Duke (1999, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2014) has six titles, USC (2003, 2008, 2013) has three titles and Florida (1985, 1986) has two titles while Miami (Fla.) (1984) and Washington (2016) each have one.

USC has won three tournaments this season, while Duke and Washington both enter this year’s championship having finished first in two tournaments.

Among the individuals, 20 of the nation’s top 50 golfers are set to participate. USC’s Malia Nam headlines the individual field as the seventh-ranked individual in the country. In addition, Florida’s Sierra Brooks will look to defend her 2018 individual crown. Brooks won the 2018 title with a three-round score of 209. The Florida junior enters the tournament as the 34th-ranked player in the country in the country according to GolfStat.com.
