Southeastern Football Practice Report – Day 3

HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana football team took to the practice field for the third time this fall Friday morning at Strawberry Stadium.

The Lions were split into two groups for the third consecutive day. Friday also marked the first day Southeastern practiced in shoulder pads.

While the physicality increased, the execution didn’t meet head coach Frank Scelfo and his staff’s expectations throughout the entire day.

“The first group came out here flying around and playing very crisp,” Scelfo commented. “Our next group was sluggish and they’re going to have fight through it.”

While Scelfo wasn’t as pleased with his entire team’s effort as he was on the opening two days, he expects his team to learn from today’s misstep.

“We’re going to have things go wrong during a practice or a game, but what’s important is how we bounce back,” Scelfo said. “Today wasn’t about physical mistakes; it was all mental. We have to be locked in every day. What’s exciting is they have the opportunity tomorrow to be better. When we have a bad day and we’re able to bounce back, that’s a great sign of growth for our team.”

The Lions will return to the practice field on Saturday at 9 a.m. Southeastern opens the 2018 season on Aug. 30 with a 7 p.m. contest at ULM.
