STILLWATER, Okla. – The Southeastern Louisiana men’s basketball team committed 18 turnovers and made just 13 field goals in Sunday’s 82-31 loss to Oklahoma State University at Gallagher-IBA Arena.

The Lions (3-9, 0-1 Southland) were led by sophomore Ty Brewer with 14 points and 12 rebounds for his fifth double-double of the season. The Meridian, Mississippi native finished 6-for-13 from the field, the rest of the team was 7-for-45 as the Lions combined to shoot 13-for-58 (22 percent) from the field.

OSU (9-3) jumped on the Lions early taking an 11-1 lead to start the game. The Cowboys continued to pressure SLU as they extended the lead to 47-19 at halftime. Things got worse for Southeastern as they shot just 5-for-27 in the second half for 12 points as Oklahoma State cruised to the win.

The Cowboys had 11 players score as they shot 27-for-60 (45 percent) led by Thomas Dziagwa. The senior from Temple Terrace, Florida scored 14 points on four three-pointers to lead OSU. The Cowboys also got 11 points from Johnathan Laurent and 10 from Yor Anei.

“We’re happy to be done playing high majors now and get into conference play,” said first-year SLU men’s head basketball coach David Kiefer. “You’re either the dog or the tree and we were the tree tonight and they were the dog. This was probably the worst performance we’ve had this year, but again, we have a bunch of 18 year olds and 19 year olds. We have 10 or 11 freshmen and sophomores. We’re going to build from it but burn that tape. There is no reason to watch it. We have to get ready for Stephen F. Austin and have the best practice we’ve ever had Monday.”

Next up, the Lions will return home to take on Stephen F. Austin (11-2, 2-0 Southland) Thursday afternoon at 1 p.m. in the Southland Conference home opener.
