Lionettes, SLU Cheer earn 3 medals at Nationals

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Southeastern Louisiana University spirit squads advanced to the 2022 UCA & UDA College Cheerleading & Dance Team National Championship finals over the weekend at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. The SLU cheerleaders and Lionettes claimed three medals.

Cheer earned a silver medal with its Open Coed Gameday routine, finishing second (96.0333 points) behind Grand Canyon (97.6 points).

In the Small Coed Division I finals, the SLU Cheerleaders finished fourth (86.15 points) behind Eastern Kentucky (94.6 points), Hofstra (89.8 points) and Grand Canyon (89.2 points).

The Lionettes earned bronze in both Division I Gameday and Division I Hip Hop, finishing seventh in Division I Jazz.

In Hip Hop, SLU (90.058 points) finished less than five points behind eventual national champion Delaware (94.913 points), while the competition in Gameday was even tighter as SLU (89.0833 points) finished behind Omaha (91.5667 points) and Hofstra (91.2167 points).

Jazz routines saw the top seven separated by less than 4.5 points as the Lionettes earned 90.5072 points and national champion Cal State Fullerton finished with 94.8261 points.
