WACO, Texas – For the second consecutive week, Louisiana Christian University men’s basketball player Kae’ron Baker put in the best performances in the Red River Athletic Conference and, in doing so, was named the RRAC’s Player of the Week for the second week in a row, the conference office announced on Monday.

Baker, a graduate student guard from Navasota, Texas, led the Wildcats to two wins in the Wildcats’ first two conference games as members of the RRAC. In the wins over Our Lady of the Lake and Huston-Tillotson, Baker averaged 22 points and seven rebounds.

In the win over Our Lady of the Lake, Baker was one rebound shy of a double-double as he finished the 87-81 win over the Saints with 19 points and nine boards. Two days later, in a one point game with less than 90 seconds remaining against Huston-Tillotson, Baker hit a crucial bucket to put the Wildcats up three, came up with a steal, then got the assist on the victory-sealing bucket in the 65-59 win over the Rams. He finished the Saturday’s game with 25 points, five rebounds, five steals, and three assists.

Baker currently sits second in the conference in scoring, averaging 22 points per game, which is also tied for the 12th-highest scoring average in the NAIA. This is Baker’s seventh career Conference Player of the Week award, having earned the distinction five times in the American Southwest Conference before adding the last two honors from the RRAC.

The Wildcats (7-6, 2-0 RRAC) look to continue their hot start in conference play this Thursday night in a battle of Wildcats at Wiley. Tip-off of Thursday’s contest at Wiley (7-5, 0-1 RRAC) is set for 7:30 P.M. or about 20 minutes following the end of the women’s game, at Wiley’s Alumni Gymnasium in Marshall, Texas.
