Lakeshore High coach Greg Battistella taken to hospital after collapsing at jamboree

Lakeshore High School coach Greg Battistella was taken from the stadium in an ambulance Friday night during the second half of the school’s jamboree game at Slidell High School:

Lakeshore assistant coach Greg Battistella, who also serves as the school’s baseball coach, was taken off the sidelines in an ambulance after collapsing. School officials said Battistella was taken to Tulane hospital.

Battistella’s current condition is unknown.

An assistant football coach and head baseball coach at Lakeshore, Battistella previously coached at his alma mater Holy Cross. The 46-year old has also coached at Pope John Paul II. He previously starred as a catcher for the University of New Orleans.

Battistella has been at Lakeshore High for the past since 2016.
