Rajon Rondo

LeBron James is going to get more help in his new home on the West Coast. It is not good news down on the Gulf Coast.

Free agent point guard Rajon Rondo has agreed to a one-year deal worth $9 million with the Lakers, multiple reports confirm.

The Pelicans had hoped to re-sign the 32-year old who averaged 8.3 points and 8.2 assists last year in his only season with New Orleans. Rondo played up to his reputation in the postseason, elevating his game and helping the Pelicans win a playoff series.

The loss of Rondo could leave the door wide-open for Elfrid Payton to move into the New Orleans starting lineup. The area native agreed Sunday to a one-year deal with the Pelicans.
