The Class 3A playoffs will be without a serious contender this season.

Lake Charles College Prep has released a statement confirming that its football team is ineligible for the 2021 state playoffs.

The ban is a result of sanctions handed down by the LHSAA, which does not release information of its rulings against member schools.

Lake Charles College Prep Principal Shanice Williams and Director of Athletics Freddie Harrison issued a joint statement on the playoff ban:

“Lake Charles College Prep is committed to maintaining and ensuring the highest standards of compliance in our athletic program. We respectfully disagree with the sanctions issued by the LHSAA which will keep our football players from participating in the playoffs this season. While this is unfortunate, we will continue to maintain the integrity of our program, and we look forward to participating fully next season.”

The Trailblazers (5-3), led by senior LSU commitment TreVonte’ Citizen, were most recently 18th in the Class 3A power ratings but were considered by many as a threat to go very deep into the playoffs again.

Lake Charles College Prep reached the 3A semifinals in 2020, losing a 43-42 thriller to Union Parish.
