Lafayette Christian Academy named Hunter Landry as its new head football coach Tuesday.

Landry replaces Trev Faulk, who will remain on staff as an assistant coach.

Landry first joined the LCA staff in 2018 and has served as the Knights’ offensive coordinator the last two seasons. He has coached on the high school level for 12 years, including at his alma mater, Breaux Bridge, and at Southside.

LCA scored 232 points in the postseason this year, including 70 in a quarterfinal victory over De La Salle in a game seen live on Crescent City Sports and 68 in a semifinal win over Teurlings Catholic.

The Knights return quarterback Ju’Juan Johnson, who is one of the top five prospects in Louisiana in the Class of 2024, in a quest to reach a seventh consecutive state championship game next fall. LCA won four consecutive state titles from 2017-20 before heartbreaking losses in the closing minutes to St. Charles Catholic in the Division III championship game 2021 and St. Thomas More in the Division II select title game last month.
