Lady Techsters tabbed sixth in C-USA Preseason Basketball Poll

RUSTON, La. – Louisiana Tech has been picked to finished sixth in the Conference USA preseason coaches’ poll released by the league office on Wednesday, Oct. 20.

“Our team has worked hard in the offseason and throughout preseason practices,” said head coach Brooke Stoehr. “We’re continuing our daily preparations for the start of the season and looking forward to an opportunity to compete for a championship. There has been an excitement around this group since they arrived on campus, and we are ready to see them in action.”

The Lady Techsters closed the 2020-21 season with a 14-10 overall and 8-8 C-USA record. LA Tech returns its top two scorers from last season, including all-Conference USA second team selection Keiunna Walker (16.0 ppg. and 4.1 rpg.) and Anna Larr Roberson (11.3 ppg, 7.1 rpg).

Charlotte was picked as the favorite to win the league, followed by Old Dominion, Middle Tennessee, North Texas and UTEP. The Lady Techsters were picked to finish sixth overall and third in the west division. The rest of the poll includes FIU, Rice, Marshall, Florida Atlantic, UAB, Western Kentucky, Southern Miss and UTSA.

LA Tech welcomes in nine newcomers, including four Division I transfers to this year’s squad, including Gabbie Green (Pittsburgh), Salma Bates (Tulane), Jadona Davis (South Alabama) and Kate Thompson (Wisconsin).

Tech opens its season on Nov. 9 against Jarvis Christian College at home inside the Thomas Assembly Center.

Broadcast Schedule Announced for Lady Techsters Basketball

Conference USA announced its women’s basketball broadcast schedule for the 2021-22 season, which features a pair of regular season games for Louisiana Tech as well as the entire C-USA Basketball Tournament at The Star in Frisco in March.

The Lady Techsters will have four games carried on ESPN+ during the regular season, including home match-ups against FIU on Feb. 5 and Rice on Feb. 24, as well as two non-conference road contest at ULM on Dec. 2 and at Louisiana-Lafayette on Dec.19.

All five of Tech’s home non-conference game as well as every regular season home and road league contest (minus the two above) will also be available through CUSATV.com, the conference’s official streamlining network. LA Tech’s non-conference road contest at Ole Miss on Nov. 19 will be televised through SEC Network+.

CBS Sports Network will showcase the title game of the 2022 Air Force Reserve C-USA Women’s Basketball Championship presented by Baylor Scott and White Sports Performance Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas. Stadium will broadcast a pair of C-USA semifinal contests and two of the four quarterfinal games on Friday, March 11. ESPN+ will play host to the tournament’s first and second rounds as well as the remaining two quarterfinal matchups the following day.

Techsters games will also be carried on the LA Tech Sports Radio Network (97.7 FM) with Kyle Roberts entering his first year of being the Voice of the Lady Techsters. The pregame show will begin 30 minutes prior to tip-off. Fan can access the audio of the game by downloading the Louisiana Tech Athletics app.
