Lady Techsters fall to UTSA, 82-73

RUSTON, La. – Mikayla Woods scored 27 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and UTSA used a 13-0 run in the fourth quarter to defeat Louisiana Tech 82-73 Thursday night in Conference USA action at the Thomas Assembly Center.

Tech (8-5, 0-2 C-USA) led 58-57 on a Keiunna Walker steal and breakaway layup with 8:17 to play in the game, but UTSA (6-8, 2-1 C-USA) outscored the Lady Techsters 13-0 over the next six minutes. By the time Walker hit a three-pointer with 2:34 to play, Tech found itself trailing by double figures.

UTSA hit 12-of-17 free throws down the stretch to post its fifth win in 16 meetings all-time against the Lady Techsters.

Tech jumped out to an early 8-2 lead less than two minutes into the contest, forcing UTSA to call a timeout. However, the Roadrunners responded, grabbing a 20-17 lead after one quarter and taking a 37-32 lead into the halftime locker room.

The two teams battled back and forth in the third quarter before MeMe Amand scored the final four points of the stanza to give Tech a 54-52 lead heading into the fourth.

Amand and Walker both set career-highs with 21 points in the game while Lotte Sant added 14 points and seven rebounds. Amand recorded a double double with 10 rebounds in the loss.

Tech returns to action Saturday when it hosts UTEP at 2 p.m.
