RUSTON, La. – Louisiana Tech added another signee on Friday as head coach Brooke Stoehr announced the addition of Italy native Lucia Savatteri to a national letter of intent.

Savatteri is a 6-foot-3-inch post player.

“We are excited to announce the addition of Lucia to our Lady Techster family,” said Stoehr. “She will bring added depth to the post position and has the ability to score inside and be a physical defender in the paint.

“Lucia’s experience with her national team will be invaluable as she transitions to Louisiana Tech. Her work ethic on and off the court has led to her success and will be a great fit with our group. We look forward to welcoming Lucia to Ruston and the Louisiana Tech family.”

Savatteri has played for the High School Basketball Lab under coach Giovanni Lucchesi where she averaged 6.4 points and 10.5 rebounds per game. She helped lead the club team to a gold medal at the 2019 European Cup in the U18 Division and a fifth place finish in the world at the 2018 Mondiale Cup in the U17 Division.

“I want to continue to improve my basketball, and Louisiana Tech has one of the greatest programs,” said Savatteri. “I like their structure and feel I can continue to grow as a player and become the player I’ve always dreamed of being. It is a good academic University with innovative programs. The possibility of playing on the NCAA (Division I) level is exciting.”

Savatteri joins a signing class that includes 5-foot-10 Korie Allensworth (Sulphur, Oklahoma/Sulphur HS), 5-foot-9 Tyler Jackson (Allen, Texas/Allen HS), 5-foot-8 Robyn Lee (Moss Point, Miss./Moss Point HS) and 6-foot-1 Tra’Liyah Washington (Mesquite, Texas/John Horn HS) and 6-foot-1 Irene Murua (Arrasate Mondragón, Spain/Arizmendi Ikastola)
