RUSTON – Louisiana Tech senior forward Alexus Malone was named the Conference USA Women’s Basketball Player of the Week following her performances in the Lady Techsters wins over North Texas and UTSA.

This is the first player of the week award in her career.

Malone – a kinesiology and health promotions major and member of the 2017 Conference USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll – averaged 17.5 points, 10 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game while shooting 49 percent from the field for the week.

The Oxford, Mississippi native opened the week with a double double of 16 points and 12 rebounds in Tech’s 61-53 win over North Texas (the Mean Green entered the week ranked No. 3 nationally in scoring defense).

She then followed that up with a 19 points, 8 rebound performance in a 63-55 win over UTSA. She helped LA Tech record its first 2-0 start in league play since the 2010-11 season.

Malone will lead Louisiana Tech into Thursday night’s road C-USA game at Southern Miss.
