LA Tech’s Gallaway earns C-USA Pitcher of the Week honor
RUSTON, La. – Louisiana Tech junior Preslee Gallaway was named the Conference USA Pitcher of the Week Monday following her performances in the Lady Techsters four games this past week.
The Pilot Point, Texas, native recorded a 2-1 mark with a 1.47 earned run average, which including a pair of complete-game shutouts victories over FIU and LSU-Alexandria.
In the first game of the week. Gallaway tossed her first career no-hitter against the NAIA’s 20th ranked LSU-Alexandria Generals, striking out a season-high nine batters. She had a perfect game until hitting the leadoff batter in the top of the sixth inning (the only batter that reached in the game).
Gallaway then tossed a complete-game four-hit shutout in a 6-0 win over FIU in a series that was a rematch of last year’s C-USA Title game in Hattiesburg. Gallaway allowed four hits while striking out six in the win.
This marks the second C-USA Pitcher of the Week honor for Gallaway, who also earned the weekly honor during her freshman season.
Gallaway will lead Louisiana Tech into Wednesday night’s home game against Northwestern State. First pitch set for 6 p.m.
