Jordan Crawford

RUSTON – After making a big splash in his Bulldog debut, Louisiana Tech’s Jordan Crawford was voted as the Conference USA Freshman of the Week in an announcement made by the league office on Monday.

Crawford saw 20 minutes of action in the season opener against Mississippi College, registering 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting including two three-pointers. It marked the most points scored by a freshman in a season opener at LA Tech since 1999.

The Ruston native also added three assists and three steals in the 78-61 victory over the Choctaws.

Crawford becomes the seventh Bulldog in program history to be named C-USA Freshman of the Week and the first since Kenneth Lofton, Jr. was voted nine times during the 2020-21 season.

He is just the second Bulldog to earn this honor in week one of the basketball season (DaQuan Bracey in 2016).

Crawford and the Bulldogs take on No. 23 Texas Tech in Lubbock, Texas tonight at 7 p.m. CT. The matchup will be streamed live on ESPN+.
