SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Louisiana Tech dominated from start to finish Thursday night, avenging an earlier season loss and routing UTSA 69-30 at the Convocation Center.

Tech (14-14, 6-11 C-USA) scored the first seven points of the game and by the time the Roadrunners had wasted two time outs in the first quarter the Lady Techsters held a commanding 20-2 lead eight minutes into the contest.

The 30 points scored by UTSA were tied for the 10th fewest ever surrendered by a Louisiana Tech team (the record is 21) and were the fewest allowed since 2003. It also marked the fewest points Tech has allowed in a Conference USA game since the program joined the league in 2013.

“We didn’t shoot the ball real well tonight, but we took care of the basketball and we really rebounded it on both ends of the floor,” said Tech head coach Brooke Stoehr. “I am proud of the way we came out here and really set the tone early. We needed a win like this.”

Tech led 22-7 at the end of the first quarter and 33-14 at halftime. The Lady Techsters pushed the advantage out to 52-19 at the end of the third quarter and then emptied the bench and coasted to the 39-point victory.

The Lady Techsters pulled down a season-high 66 rebounds, including 25 on the offensive end that led to a 21-4 advantage on second chance point. Tech outrebounded UTSA 66-40 in the game.

It was a team effort. Anna Larr Roberson and Bri Harris each pulled down 10 rebounds while Amber Dixon and Grayson Bright added eight boards each and Lotte Sant had seven.

Tech held UTSA to just 11-of-56 shooting from the field for 19.6 percent, including just 1-of-14 from beyond the arc. The Lady Techsters shot 32 percent (24-of-73) from the field, and 8-of-31 from the three-point line.

Bright led Tech offensively with 17 points, while Dixon and Keiunna Walker each added 12 points.

The win avenged an 82-73 loss to UTSA on Jan. 9 in Ruston in a game that saw the Roadrunners scored 30 points (the same total from tonight’s game) in the fourth quarter alone.

Tech closes out the regular season Saturday at 2 p.m. at WKU.
