RUSTON, La. – The Louisiana Tech women’s bowling team earned national recognition on Monday after being ranked ninth in the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) Preseason Poll. LA Tech also received one first place vote in the poll.

“It’s nice to be ranked in the top 10, but we haven’t proved anything yet,” head coach Matt Nantais said. “We have the talent this year, we just need to show everybody else. I expect great things from this team this year.”

The Lady Techsters return all 10 bowlers from the 2019-20 squad in seniors Ashley Channell and Kaitlyn Eder, juniors Emily Rettig, Lindsay Manning and Kalia Patterson, redshirt sophomore Sara Howell, and sophomores Danielle Jedlicki, Tara Spridco, Emma Koch and Allie Leiendecker. LA Tech also welcomes two new faces to the 2020-21 roster in sophomore Katelyn Orisek and freshman Baileigh Snow.

Louisiana Tech closed out the 2019-20 season ranked 11th in the nation with a 64-34 record. Tech made history when it qualified for the USBC Intercollegiate Team Championships and was set to compete in the Dallas Sectional before the season was cut short in March.

“The team feels like their season was taken away last year,” Nantais said. “They have some things to prove to themselves.”
