RUSTON, La. – The Louisiana Tech Lady Techsters will play an 18-game Conference USA schedule as well as seven non-conference contests highlighted by 15 dates in the Thomas Assembly Center.

This season, Conference USA will move to a new 18-game regular season format for conference play that focuses on the health and safety of student-athletes. In this format, schools will play two games per visit at four select C-USA schools and host four select teams for a two-game series, while playing a rival opponent one time home and away.

“First and foremost, we are trying to keep the health and safety of our student-athletes, staff and everyone involved in the sport at the forefront,” said LA Tech head coach Brooke Stoehr. “Instead of involving four teams each conference weekend, this format will involve just two teams interacting. It will make for some interesting match-ups and story lines. But most importantly, it will keep everyone safe and healthy while also giving our teams a chance to compete.”

Louisiana Tech will play two-game home series against WKU (Jan. 7, 9), UTEP (Jan. 21, 23), North Texas (Feb. 4, 6) and Middle Tennessee (Feb. 18, 20) and two-game road series at Marshall (Dec. 30, Jan. 2), UTSA (Jan. 14, 16), UAB (Feb. 11, 13) and Rice (Feb. 25, 27).

LA Tech and Southern Miss (travel partners) will play a two-game series, with one game in Ruston (Jan. 28) and one in Hattiesburg (Jan. 30).

The non-conference portion of the schedule includes six home games and only one road contest as the Lady Techsters open the year on Nov. 25 against McNeese State in Ruston. Following a Nov. 30 home game against Grambling State, Tech will travel to Austin, Texas, to face the Longhorns in the only road non-conference game of the year.

Tech also has home games against Jackson State (Dec. 8), Arkansas-Pine Bluff (Dec. 14), ULM (Dec. 17) and UL-Lafayette (Dec. 20).

The Championship format will return to its familiar 12-team field that it has utilized for the past several seasons. The top 12 regular season finishers in conference play will qualify for the Championship.

“I think we are in a year of uncertainty and an unbalanced schedule as far as competitive equity,” said Stoehr. “From a coach’s perspective, the more teams you have in the (C-USA) Tournament, the more opportunities you have for hard working student athletes to compete for a championship. I am happy to see that will continue.”

The 2021 C-USA Basketball Championships presented by the Baylor, Scott & White Sports Performance Center at The Star are scheduled for March 10-13 in Frisco, Texas. This will be the fourth year that the event will be held in Frisco.

Season tickets are currently on sale through the Tech Ticket Office (318-257-3631) or online at LATechSports.com/Tickets. Renewal deadline for basketball season tickets is Dec. 1.
