RUSTON, La. – Louisiana Tech head football coach Skip Holtz announced two coaching additions to both sides of the ball on Thursday, as Anthony Camp joins the staff as Tech’s defensive line coach, while Trey Holtz will come aboard to coach Tech’s inside receivers.

Camp comes to Ruston after spending the past two seasons down the road as UL-Monroe’s defensive line coach. He replaces former D-line coach Rick Petri, who worked with the Tech defensive line for six seasons before retiring earlier this month.

In 2019, Camp helped lead a defensive line that featured an all-conference selection in senior Donald Louis, who ranked sixth in the Sun Belt in sacks (5.5), 12th in tackles for loss (10.0) and seventh in forced fumbles (2).

In his two years at ULM, Camp’s defensive line helped force 319 sacks. In 2018, the Warhawks finished second in the Sun Belt in sacks with 222, while two of Camp’s defensive lineman ranked in the top 12 of conference sack leaders.

Prior to his time at ULM, Camp spent both three seasons at Nicholls State (2015-17) under head coach Tim Rebowe.

Meanwhile, Trey Holtz, the eldest son of coach Skip Holtz, comes to Louisiana Tech after spending the past three seasons at Ohio State working primarily with the Buckeyes tight ends and running backs.

In 2019, Trey was promoted to Ohio State’s offensive graduate assistant after serving as the assistant tight ends coach in 2018 and the assistant running backs coach in 2017.

In his three years on Ohio State’s offensive staff, the Buckeyes set numerous records while posting a combined record of 38-4.

In 2019, the Buckeyes led the NCAA in total offense (529.9 YPG), passing efficiency (180.51), scoring offense (46.9 PPG), first downs (397) and third-down conversion % (55.2%).

The 2018 squad set school and Big Ten records for total yards per game (535.6), passing yards (5,100) and passing touchdowns (51). The 2017 team averaged 506.0 yards per game and scored 50 or more points five times.

Holtz has been a part of back-to-back-to-back Big Ten championships along with wins in the Cotton and Rose bowls.

A native of Tampa, Florida, Holtz was a five-year quarterback at the University of Texas (2012-16). He played in all 23 games during his junior and senior seasons of 2015 and 2016 as the team’s holder on field goals and extra points.

As a preferred walk-on, Holtz went on to earn a scholarship and was a five-time member of the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll. Holtz attended H.B. Plant High School in Tampa, Fla. and helped the Panthers win a state title as a senior.

Holtz earned a master’s degree from Ohio State’s sport management program in December of 2018. He received his bachelor’s degree from Texas in physical culture and sport.
