Kitchen, Barlow named GCAC Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week
NEW ORLEANS, La. – In the first edition of the 2021 GCAC Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week, Santerrius Barlow of Xavier and Johnathan Kitchen of Dillard were voted Track and Field winners, respectively.
Barlow qualified for NAIA Nationals by winning both the 100m (10.54) and 200m (21.56) dashes during the William Carey Outdoor Challenge. So far his times rank first and second in the nation, respectively, with both times being the fastest by a Gold Rush runner in the past 11 years.
Kitchen logged a runner-up finish during the shot put (12.88) and set a new Bleu Devil record in the discus (39.94), garnering a third-place showing in the process. The freshman from Pierce, Florida also threw the javelin 31.06m, good enough for 16th at the William Carey Outdoor Challenge.
