ALGIERS – Edna Karr continues to show why they are the top seed in Class 4A with a convincing victory Friday night at Behrman Stadium over No. 16 Eunice Bobcats.

Quarterback AJ Samuels hooked up with wideout Aaron Anderson for a 43-yard touchdown pass but Eunice managed a scoring drive of their own to tiw the game at 7-7 in the opening quarter.

The Bobcats would win the time of possession on the night, but three costly fumbles allowed the Cougars to pull away with touchdowns after each of them. LSU commit Tygee Hill picked up a fumble for a scoop and score for a nine yards to give Karr the lead for good.

Samuels hit his big target Yuran McMath for one of two touchdown connections for the duo on a 22-yard strike. With the defender grabbing his facemask. McMath showed amazing strength, breaking free and racing his way into the end zone.

McMath pulled in a 16-yard touchdown pass later in the second quarter.

Kylen Lampton displayed his breakway speed for a 53-yard touchdown reception from Samuels in the third quarter.

ASamuels finished the night 12-of-17 passing for 245 yards

The Alabama commit Anderson, Lampton and Jaylin Lucas all finished with over 40 yards receiving.

“AJ has been busting his butt at practice and it showed tonight,” said Brown.

Freshman Bryant Sanchez capped the dominant KArr effort with a 60-yard touchdown on a punt return.

Karr now moves on to face No. 8 Carver in a quarterfinal matchup. The last time these two Orleans Parish squads met was back 2017 in a shootout, with Karr sneaking by with 40-35 victory over the Rams.
