NEW ORLEANS – New Orleans head coach Mark Slessinger continued to announce the 2020 signing class Friday with the addition of LaDarius Marshall. Marshall will have two seasons of eligibility after spending his sophomore campaign at Hinds Community College. Krunchy began his collegiate career at Southern Miss.

In 24 games at Hinds (19 starts), Marshall averaged 11.0 points on 57.4 percent shooting and added 7.8 rebounds and his 2.5 blocks per game ranked in the top 25 in NJCAA.

He reached double figures 12 times and pulled down 10+ rebounds seven times with five double-doubles. Marshall set career-highs against East Central with 21 points and 17 boards.

As a freshman at Southern Miss, Marshall appeared in 11 games and averaged 3.3 points and 1.7 rebounds.

He was ranked as high as No. 4 overall in Mississippi and a three-star recruit by 247Sports.com. Marshall’s squad advanced to the state championship game his junior season and he was a three-time all-Mississippi and Clarion Ledger Dandy Dozen.

FROM COACH SLESSINGER
“LaDarius will bring strength and athleticism to our team instantly. He had a tremendous prep career at Forest Hill High School and his reputation as an intimidating presence on the court is well documented. We are happy to add a player of his caliber.”

ON HIS COLLEGIATE BACKGROUND
“His time with Doc Saddler at Southern Mississippi as a freshman was an invaluable experience. He followed that up with an excellent junior college coach in Yusef Fitzgerald at Hinds. This experience for two great coaches will help him acclimate to our system very quickly”

FROM LaDARIUS MARSHALL
“I’m happy to be a Privateer. It’s a school I am familiar with and it is not too far from my family and friends. I’m excited to be in a New Orleans jersey and join the UNO family.”
