John Emery of Destrehan named Metro Prep Player of Week
Destrehan senior running back John Emery is the R&L Carriers New Orleans Bowl/Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation Quarterback Club, CrescentCitySports.com, WGSO 990 AM and Friday Night Football Prep Player of the Week for week 13 of the prep football season.
An LSU commit, Emery rushed 26 times for 209 yards and four touchdowns and caught one pass for three yards as No. 2 Destrehan bounced No. 7 Terrebonne 31-14 in the Class 5A quarterfinals. Emery is coached by Steve Robicheaux.
Coached by Steve Robicheaux, Emery will be honored at the year-end meeting of the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation Quarterback Club on Tuesday, Dec. 11 at Rock’n’Bowl, 3016 South Carrollton Avenue in New Orleans. The Quarterback Club meets weekly each Tuesday at noon at Rock’n’Bowl with speakers weekly on the New Orleans Saints, LSU, Tulane and prep football, along with wild card speakers.
