John Curtis, Chapelle, Dominican, MCA, St. Charles, St. Thomas Aquinas look for spots in state softball finals
Prep Softball Playoff Report for Thursday, April 29
The LHSAA state softball semifinals get underway Thursday at Frasch Park in Sulphur.
In Division I, it is a continuation of District 9-5A play with all four teams from the Catholic League.
No. 1 John Curtis Christian (22-4) battles No. 4 Archbishop Chapelle (17-14) at 3 p.m. on Field 17.
The Lady Patriots whipped the Chipmunks 12-1 and 12-4 in the regular season.
Also at 3 p.m. on Field 18, No. 2 Dominican (18-7) hosts 9-5A rival and No. 3 Mount Carmel Academy (13-14).
The two rivals split in the regular season with the Cubs winning 6-4 and Dominican winning 6-3.
In Division III, No. 5 St. Charles Catholic (16-12) squares off with No. 1 Notre Dame (27-5) at 3 p.m. on Field 13.
Also in Division III at 3 p.m., No. 2 St. Thomas Aquinas (19-6) meets No. 3 Holy Savior Menard (20-14) on Field 14.
In Division IV, No. 1 Northside Christian faces No. 5 Family Community while No. 2 Claiborne Christian plays No. 3 University Academy, both games set for 11 a.m.
In Class 1A, No. 1 Oak Grove faces No. 4 Montgomery and No. 2 LaSalle faces No. 3 Merryville, both at 11 a.m.
In Class B, No. 5 Quitman takes on No. 9 Anacoco while No. 2 Holden goes up against No. 3 Florien with both games set for 3 p.m.
In Class C, No. 1 Calvin goes up against No. 5 Ebarb while No. 3 Georgetown faces No. 7 Summerfield with each game set for 11 a.m.
