FRISCO, Texas – Joe Provenzano, McNeese baseball’s first-ever two-time Google Cloud Academic All-American, has been named the Southland Conference’s Baseball Co-Student Athlete of the Year, the league office announced on Thursday.

Provenzano shares the award with Sam Houston State pitcher Dakota Mills.

In addition, the recent graduate from Downers Grove, Illinois, was voted to the SLC All-Academic First Team for the third consecutive year.

The second baseman graduated this past May with a bachelor’s degree as a double major in finance and accounting with a GPA of 3.76.

On the field, Provenzano became McNeese’s all-time hits leader, surpassing former teammate Andrew Guillotte late in the season, ending his career with 254 base hits. He also tied Guillotte’s career record with 222 game played in his four seasons.
