Jester soccer 2021

The New Orleans Jesters play the Jacksonville Armada on Saturday night at Pan American Stadium; gates open at 6 with kickoff set for 7.

The Jesters are coming off their first victory of the season after defeating Port City FC 2-0 in a hard fought game played last Saturday night.

Head coach Kenny Farrell is looking forward to the match:

“It was great to get the first win last Saturday and the players thoroughly deserved it with their effort and determination. This has been a very good few days of training, the sharpness is improving and if they work as hard in the match as they have this week we will get the result we are looking for.”

The Jesters took control of the match versus Port City with a pair of goals in the first ten minutes. The first came after a sweeping buildup that finished with midfielder Jowayne Laidley whipping in a cross from the left side. The ball was deflected into the goal by Port City defender Reece Harrison.

Team captain Mason Walsh added the second with a composed finish from outside the box minutes later.

Jacksonville has got off to a flying start to the season reeling off three consecutive wins good for second position in the Gulf Coast Conference standings.

The Armada defeated Tallahassee SC 2-1 in the season opener, Florida Roots FC 3-0 in the second match then defeated Pensacola FC 2-0 in last Saturday night’s game.

The Jacksonville Armada are led by former Armada player head coach Tommy Krizanovic.

Following the game versus Jacksonville the Jesters will head to Florida for a pair of games taking on Florida Roots FC on Thursday evening and Tallahassee SC on Saturday.
