Jesters have COVID positives, postponing NPSL Gulf Coast Conference Conference Championship Final

The New Orleans Jesters will play Southern States SC in Hattiesburg, Miss. for the 2021 NPSL Gulf Coast Conference title and for the right to advance to the NPSL National playoffs.

The question is when?

The title match was postponed on Saturday hours before the kickoff time due to several positive COVID-19 tests reported among the New Orleans Jesters players.

The Jesters defeated the number one seeded Jacksonville Armada 3-1 on Wednesday night in the semifinal round behind goals from Sheldon Green, Mason Walsh and an own goal from the Armada after a JoWayne Laidley cross.

Southern States SC edged Pensacola FC 2-1 in their semifinal match.

The Jesters and SSSC met twice during the regular season. Southern States won the first game 2-1 on May 15 In Hattiesburg. The return fixture played in New Orleans on June 26 finished tied at one goal apiece.

In addition to being crowned NPSL Gulf Coast Conference Champion, the New Orleans-Southern States winner will advance to represent the Gulf Coast Conference in the 2021 NPSL South Region playoffs.
